Rufus is a wonderful, very intelligent male young pup born 5/5/25 who forms strong bonds with his people. Weight around 14 pounds, is up to date with his health, neutered, loves cuddling on the couch, learning new tricks, and engaging in scent games — especially sniffing for hidden treats. He enjoys running freely in a yard, toys, and bones, and he’s very affectionate, often paws for attention or loving wanting to sit in his person’s lap. Does well during car rides and doesn’t get carsick. While he does enjoy walks, he becomes most excited when returning home. He is alert and protective of the home and will bark at squirrels or people passing by.
He has gone to puppy play groups and worked with a dog outings specialist. In structured settings where he knows the other dogs, he does well. With new dogs, he can be a little shy at first.
Rufus knows several commands, including sit, stay, come, down, heel, back up, out, off, leave it, touch, paw and roll over. He is potty trained and responds reliably to the phrase “go potty.” Crate trained and sleeps in crate as well. He will sometimes go after laundry left on the floor and can still struggle with “leave it” in those moments. He is available for the right family.
